Aubergine Cafe is excited to present In Between Horizons., a solo exhibition with painted work by Shushanik Karapetyan, curated by Raluca Anchidin. Featuring abstract, color-driven paintings of portals, landscapes, embryonic and vessel-like forms, the show explores transitional states, between light and dark, interior and exterior, containment and release.
Drawing from her background in Gestalt psychotherapy, Shushanik constructs environments that feel both intimate and expansive. Forms overlap, boundaries soften, and multiple spatial and emotional registers coexist. Her portals resist fixed orientation; vivid palettes shift between luminosity and depth; color operates as both connector and threshold, at times dissolving edges, at others sharpening contrast.
In the context of spring, renewal, and collective reflection, the exhibition invites us to linger in moments that resist closure, proposing the in-between not as a temporary condition to be resolved, but as a space of presence, potential, and shared experience. Rather than moving toward resolution, we feel emboldened to dwell in multiple states of suspension. The challenge is to remain with “uncertainty” as “a generative space”.
Please join us for the opening reception on Saturday, March 7th, 2-4pm.
